The Art of Organizing Your Belongings
There’s a saying that goes, “A place for everything, and everything in its place.” It’s even more true than it was back in the day when you consider how hectic modern life is, even in Minneapolis. Who has time to spend minutes looking for a misplaced object? Organization not only saves time but also keeps you and the members of your household from being constantly frazzled. Read on for some organizing suggestions.
Organizing your clothes
Designing clothes closets has become a billion-dollar industry over the years, but you don’t really need a bedroom-sized walk-in closet to arrange your clothes. Indeed, you don’t really need a closet at all. If your bedroom lacks one, you can fit a clothes rack against a wall and arrange your clothes by type. Your shirts and blouses, for example, can be arranged on one side of the rack, followed by skirts and then trousers. Sweaters can be folded and arranged on the top rack.
Place your shoes and boots on the bottom rack or hang a shoe caddy next to the trousers. Don't be afraid to be creative and arrange your items by color. Place the green blouses together and then the white ones followed by the red or blue ones, etc. Hats, gloves and scarves, ties, and other needful items can be arranged in tidy boxes placed either on the bottom or top rack. A little chest of drawers nearby can hold underwear and jewelry.
Organizing kitchen items
An organized kitchen is not only esthetically pleasing and much more functional but is also safer to work in. Organizing your kitchen can spare you everything from a knick on the finger from scrambling through a disorganized knife drawer to a raging grease fire. How the objects in your kitchen can be well organized almost defies listing, but among the ways to do it include:
Placing a pegboard on a wall and attaching utensils to it. One trick is to draw outlines of the utensils on the pegboard so you always know what goes where.
Put utensil trays in the drawers. They don’t even have to be proper utensil trays, but pencil trays and shallow baskets you can find in a dollar store. Make sure you measure your drawer first before buying.
Put small appliances such as stand mixers on metal shelves that can be rolled out from floor cabinets.
Organizing bathroom items
Another place that can get really messy is the bathroom, especially if it’s used by more than one person. The solution can be as expensive as having a professional such as RTA Cabinet Store add brand new cabinets and shelves or as inexpensive as going to the dollar store again and buying shallow baskets, trays, and caddies. Fill them with objects according to their purpose, such as makeup things in one basket and soaps and shampoos in another, and arrange them neatly around the vanity top or in the medicine cabinet.
