Crafting the Perfect Outdoor Oasis for Summer Days

By crafting the perfect outdoor oasis in your own backyard, you’ll be able to make the most of this wonderful time of year. Creating a space where you can relax, entertain, and even cook is easier than you think if you know where to begin.

The patio or deck area

You’ll need a spot for your outdoor furniture and accessories. If you already have a patio or deck, you can start there. Look it over and see if it needs any attention, look for things like loose nailheads, rotting wood, and other safety issues. If there are several repairs to make, you may want to consider removing the existing structure and having something new installed. If there is no deck or patio, make this the first project to tackle.

Have fencing installed

A good fence is a wonderful addition to your backyard oasis, especially if you have small children or pets. It also provides you with privacy. You’ll want to make sure you know where your property line is before hiring a fence installation company. This can be done by contacting the county assessor or your local record office.

It’s also a nice gesture to discuss your plans with your neighbors. They'll appreciate the advanced notice to keep their children and pets out of the way during the installation.

Create a comfortable living space

Just like you would plan your interior spaces, you need a plan for your backyard. Designate specific areas for relaxing, entertaining, cooking, and eating. If your backyard isn't large enough to accommodate all of these areas, you can combine them. An outdoor dining set provides an excellent place for eating, having friends over, or simply unwinding at the end of the day. Folding chairs can be used for extra seating and can easily be stored when not in use.

An outdoor kitchen and grilling area

Every backyard oasis needs a place for cooking outdoors. You don't have to invest in a high-end outdoor kitchen to achieve this. A simple grilling station can be all you need. If you like serving drinks, consider adding an outdoor bar cabinet. These furniture pieces typically have wheels, which makes them easy to move out of your way when you're not using them.

Where you put the grill is important. For safety reasons, you should always grill in an area with plenty of ventilation. It's optimal if the grill is close to the door nearest the kitchen. In addition to a grill, you can add coolers, a smoker, or a pizza oven, depending on what makes you happy.
