Ways to Make Your Little One's Room Fun

You spent a lot of time creating a bedroom you love, so why not spend just as much time designing the perfect room for your little one? Parents have a tendency of picking what they want rather than what their children want. You can easily create a room that meets all of their needs today but also fits them in the future. Check out some great ways to make your little one's room more fun.

1. Pick a theme

Start with a theme for the bedroom based on your child's favorite things or what they like. You might base the whole room around their favorite sport or their favorite toys. If you have a little one who loves basketball, recreate the feeling of the court at home with three-point lines on the floor and a hoop on the wall. Even just changing the color of the wall can have a big impact. With local Cincinnati companies like Color World Painting, you'll have no problem adding a pop of color.

2. Embrace their creativity

Give your little one an excuse to get creative with accents designed just for them. A fun option is a whiteboard wall. Whiteboard paint is easy to paint on the wall and turns the space into a giant drawing board. You can do the same thing with chalkboard paint. Other ways to let them express their creativity include:

  • Adding an easel in the center of the room

  • Letting them design a custom mural for one wall

  • Painting the floor with chalkboard or whiteboard paint

  • Framing and hanging some of their artwork

3. Add a book nook

Many kids love to read and would love to have a book nook of their own. You don't need a lot of fancy supplies to create the perfect reading space. Start with a comfy chair in your child's size and a shelf with room for all of their favorite books. Add a night light or book light to the side along with some cozy blankets and pillows. Using small bins on the shelf is one of the bedroom organization tools that keep your child organized.

4. Think outside of the box

Kids' bedrooms usually have the same design, which puts the bed against one wall. There are other bedroom layout ideas that work just as well and make the room more functional. Try placing the bed in the center to create a focal point and adding a fun chair that hangs from the ceiling where the bed once was. Consider changing the location of the closet to give them more storage and more space for playing. One Day Doors & Closets and other Cincinnati companies can install a new closet in your child's bedroom quickly.
